Dr. Rashmi K Sharma

(Principal Investigator)

Dr. Sharma is an Associate Professor and Co-Director of Research in the Division of General Internal Medicine at the University of Washington. A board-certified palliative care physician, Dr. Sharma leads the ImPaCT (Improving Palliative Care Together) research program, which focuses on improving the care of patients with serious illness and their families, particularly those from culturally- and linguistically-diverse populations.

Dr. Sharma completed her medical training at the University of Washington and a fellowship at Johns Hopkins University, where she earned a Master’s in Health Sciences. Her work has been nationally recognized, including honors such as being named one of the 44 Hospice and Palliative Medicine Inspirational Leaders Under 40 and receiving the Hastings Center Cunniff-Dixon Early Career Physician Award. She is currently the Principal Investigator for two large studies aimed at improving palliative care for patients with advanced cancer (ImPaCT-Cancer) and dementia (ImPaCT-Dementia).
